For my very first blog post, I wanted to share this beautiful engagement session I photographed for Noémie & Lucas. A beautiful and very quick mountain couple photoshoot.
We had planned this late afternoon to head into the mountains, just outside Grenoble, to capture images for their wedding stationery, as they are getting married on September 1st and 2nd, 2023. However, the weather did not cooperate. The conditions were changing rapidly, to the point where we almost decided not to go.
After a few minutes, we decided to go anyway. Staying close to the cars, we completed the session in just 15 minutes. Rain, wind and thunder, we were incredibly excited. The atmosphere felt electric, much like the sky above us.
We laughed. A lot. We ran, jumped, danced. It was amazing. I can never say it enough, bad weather often leads to extraordinary and epic photographs.
I will let you judge for yourself with the photos from this mountain couple photoshoot.
If you do not already know, photographers, or at least I do, love shooting couple sessions when the weather is moody.
Bad weather creates a different and unique atmosphere that can add depth and magic to your photos. Dark clouds, light rain or snow can create romantic and intimate atmospheres.
Cloudy or foggy days offer soft and diffused lighting, which is ideal for avoiding harsh shadows and unwanted reflections. This allows for softer and more flattering images.
The rain can intensify the surrounding colors, making greens deeper and colors more saturated. This can give the photos a more artistic and captivating look.
Bad weather can inspire spontaneous and romantic moments during a session. Sheltering together under an umbrella or cuddling up to stay warm in the cold can create authentic and memorable moments. Add a little music, and it almost feels like being in a movie.
On days with bad weather, there are often fewer people outdoors, which means you can enjoy a more intimate couple photoshoot without worrying about distractions or curious onlookers.
In the end, the most important thing is to embrace bad weather and turn it into an opportunity to create special and memorable photos. With a positive attitude and a touch of adventure, you can achieve amazing results even when the sun is not shining.
The Chartreuse Massif, located just a few kilometers from Grenoble, is an ideal setting for a couple or wedding photoshoot. With its mountain landscapes, lakes, forests and breathtaking views of the Alps, the Chartreuse offers countless possibilities for romantic and intimate photographs. The cliffs of Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse, the lakes of Paladru and Le Bourget, the forests of the Grande Chartreuse and the mountain peaks all provide spectacular backdrops for wedding photography. As a wedding photographer, I can also play with natural light, reflections on the water, autumn colors or snowy landscapes to create unique and unforgettable images. If you are looking for a natural setting for your wedding photoshoot, the Chartreuse is a perfect choice.
An engagement session is a professional photoshoot for couples who have recently gotten engaged. It is an opportunity for future newlyweds to get to know their wedding photographer, relax and feel comfortable in front of the camera before the big day. An engagement session also allows you to create unforgettable memories and couple photos that can be used for wedding invitations, keepsake albums or wedding decorations.
